What happens at Tech Trek?
Tech Trek is an immersive STEM experience for rising 8th grade girls who live in Alabama. It is designed to encourage girls to pursue STEM majors and educational experiences and inspire them to see themselves as future engineers and scientists. This residential program runs for a week (Sunday to Saturday) in June on the University of Alabama in Huntsville campus. Through a selection process, Tech Trek invites 64 girls to join the program.
At Tech Trek, girls will:

Attend a core class for 15 hours (2023 core class topics were Electric Avenue, Defying Gravity, Solar Energy, App Development)

Field trips and related activities for 15 hours (2023 field trips were to the Cook Museum, HudsonAlpha, and the Planetarium)

STEM workshops, instant challenges, and speakers for 18 hours

Fun and engagement with peers, college mentors, and professionals 12 hours (includes trip to Flow trampoline part, Professional Women's Night, and movie night)

Journaling and self-reflection (6 hours)
At Tech Trek, girls work hard, participate in group/team building activities, do hands-on STEM projects, and build their STEM skills! This is a program for girls who are ready to work hard and learn a lot about science, math, and engineering!
